Boiler breakdown: what to note before calling
A few observations help prepare a boiler diagnosis. Record the fault safely without opening the appliance or repeatedly resetting it.

Start with what still works
Is there no heating, no hot water, or neither? Check whether all radiators or taps are affected. Note when the problem began and whether it followed a power interruption, an adjustment or earlier work. This pattern helps distinguish a control or local fixture issue from a wider boiler fault.
Record the display and controls
Write down the complete error code, including any subcode, and photograph the display and accessible identification label. Note visible pressure and thermostat settings. Only use checks described in the user manual; do not remove a cover, bridge wiring or alter combustion settings.
Do not keep forcing a restart
A lockout is a protective response. Repeated resets can obscure the history and do not solve the cause. Likewise, repeatedly adding water can hide a leak. Tell the technician what you have already tried and stop if the appliance repeatedly returns to a fault.
Know when it is an emergency
If you smell gas, avoid switches and flames, leave and call Sibelga on 0800 19 400 from outside. For a CO alarm or immediate danger, leave and call 112. For an ordinary breakdown, contact ChauffePro with the address, access details and appliance information to confirm availability and diagnosis charges.
