Drain unblocking and camera inspection: how they work together
Clearing a blockage restores passage; camera inspection can help explain why it happened. The two stages are particularly useful when a problem returns.

Clear enough to inspect
An obstructed or dirty pipe may provide no usable camera view. Suitable cleaning or unblocking may therefore come first. The method depends on access, pipe material and condition, not simply on choosing the most powerful tool.
Look for the recurring cause
A camera may reveal remaining deposits, a displaced connection, roots or a damaged section. These findings help distinguish further cleaning from structural repair. A temporary opening through accumulated material may not be a durable solution.
Agree the inspection deliverable
Clarify the accessible length, recording or report and how any defect will be located. A useful result relates observations to a known entry point and explains the next step. Camera inspection does not by itself repair a crack or correct a poor gradient.
Arrange access and price beforehand
In shared buildings, the property manager may need to provide access or authorise work. Ask whether travel, cleaning, camera use and additional equipment are included. Stop repeated water tests when fixtures back up, and tell the plumber about any chemicals already used.
