Prepare your heating for winter
Check the heating before sustained cold weather, note changes and arrange needed work early. A short test helps reveal problems while there is time to investigate.

Try the system before you depend on it
Use normal user controls to request heat and observe whether rooms warm as expected. Note unusual sounds, error messages and visible pressure. Check accessible thermostatic valve settings without forcing a stuck mechanism.
Look beyond the boiler
Uneven room temperatures may involve air, balancing, valves or circulation. Keep radiators reasonably clear so heat can enter the room. Ventilation openings serving combustion appliances must remain unobstructed even when outdoor temperatures fall.
Collect service and inspection records
Find the previous certificate and maintenance date and check the requirements for your equipment. An existing fault should be reported as such when booking; a routine service may not include the repair needed to restore operation.
Prepare a clear appointment request
Provide the make, model, symptoms and access arrangements. Explain whether heating, hot water or both are affected. Planning ahead helps discuss follow-up and parts, but no visit time is guaranteed until availability is confirmed.
